MAKING DOG & CAT SURGERY AS SAFE AS POSSIBLE

For the highest guarantee of safety, health, and comfort throughout the surgery process, our team follows these steps:

Before Surgery

To minimize the risks associated with general anesthesia, we perform a physical exam and blood work to screen for health problems and make sure your pet’s organs are functioning normally. If safety risks are high, we delay surgery and focus on treating your pet instead.

If your pet is cleared for surgery, they receive an IV catheter to supply necessary fluids during the procedure, in addition to carefully measured pain-relieving medication and antibiotics. Fluids help maintain hydration, keep blood pressure stable, and support organ function.

During Surgery

A dedicated veterinary nurse is at your pet’s side for their entire surgery, monitoring their vitals and keeping them warm. Heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, EKG, temperature, and oxygen levels are all watched for changes or abnormalities.

With our state-of-the-art monitoring equipment and experience with the latest techniques, we detect health changes quickly and make equally quick adjustments to maintain your pet’s safety.

After Surgery

After surgery, your pet receives additional medication as needed to keep them comfortable. A nurse remains with them to make sure they awaken safely from the anesthetic. If necessary, we may also treat your dog or cat’s surgery site with cold laser therapy to ease healing and reduce inflammation.

When you arrive to bring your pet home, we may provide oral pain relief medication to increase their comfort. We also provide you with instructions to help you care for your pet while they heal and recuperate.
