PET EXAMS AND DIAGNOSTICS IN HYDE PARK, IL
Our animal hospitals in Hyde Park use the latest laboratory and digital X-ray equipment to conduct internal exams. These tools provide us with a larger, more complete picture of your pet’s overall health and can show us underlying issues taking place in certain parts of the body. With diagnostics, we can offer proactive care to minimize the effects of a health concern or prevent certain issues entirely. Whether we’re checking to make sure your pet is healthy or searching for the cause of an illness, you can expect timely results and a comprehensive treatment plan to improve any conditions.
LAB TESTING OFFERS EFFICIENT RESULTS
Our lab testing equipment makes it possible for us to evaluate blood, urine, and fecal samples for abnormal changes. These substances can provide important information about your pet’s health and alert us to problems they may need to be treated quickly.
With our testing capabilities, we can check your pet for:
- Heartworm disease
- Lyme disease
- White blood cell counts
- Blood chemistries
- High blood sugar
- Intestinal parasites
- …and more
We offer a complete in-house lab for rapid testing, which is sometimes necessary for pets with urgent health concerns. Standard wellness tests are generally sent out to a specialist for comprehensive evaluation.
DIGITAL X-RAY: RELIABILITY AND CLARITY
Humans have benefited from X-ray technology for years, and it also benefits our pets. Our hospitals use the most up-to-date digital X-ray equipment to produce high-quality images of bones and organs. Broken bones, tumors, subtle limb deformities, heart enlargement, and foreign bodies are just some of what we detect using digital X-ray.
Additionally, our digital X-ray machine uses less radiation than the traditional method. In fact, digital X-ray uses as little as 10% of the radiation of film-based X-ray. If you have concerns about your pet being exposed to radiation, you can be assured that our procedures are remarkably safe.
HELPING SICK AND HEALTHY PETS
Healthy pets should see us annually for their wellness exam and blood work to check for evidence of illness or parasites. Senior pets may need annual testing so we can closely monitor their health and offer timely treatment. Furthermore, if your pet is showing any of these signs, they may need diagnostics to help treat the problem:
- Not eating and/or drinking
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Gagging/coughing
- Labored breathing
- Inability to urinate
